Welcome!! Bienvenidos!!

A little bit about me....

My name is Miriam Lara, I am an undergraduate student at Texas A&M University in San Antonio pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Bilingual Education EC-6. I received my Associate's Degree in Education at Palo Alto College. I am currently working as a substitute teacher in Lytle ISD where I am gaining and learning from real classroom experience. I am currently doing my field base experience and will be doing my student teaching in the fall semester of 2014. I am a member of BESO (Bilingual Education Student Organization) at Texas A&M University - San Antonio.

I am married and have two very active sons that are 7 and 8 years old, that keep me very busy. I was born in Dallas, Texas and I currently live in Lytle, Texas. I am currently the secretary of Lytle Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). I have had many great volunteer experiences with my children during head start and kindergarten that motivated me further to pursue a career in teaching. I have always loved children, that is why being a teacher is my dream job!

Student Teaching

I did my student teaching in a bilingual kindergarten class at Schenck Elementary which is part of San Antonio ISD. In Schenck Elementary they have a late exit bilingual program which starts at pre-kindergarten up to fifth grade. The teachers at Schenck collaborate with each other which makes student learning better. This school provides great opportunities for parent involvement such as social studies, math, science and reading night where student's families are welcome to come see what they are learning and do activities with their children.
